Webcam is back
You may or may not have noticed, for the past few weeks if you clicked on the webcam link you got a test pattern, I had replaced my parallel port scanner with a USB scanner and something had to go since I was out of ports. I just picked up a USB hub in BJs so the webcam is back and I can now plug in my MP3 player without unplugging something.

Podcasting is cool!!
I wanted something else to listen to on my way to work .... NPR and books on CD only go so far. Worse, usually the NPR programs I wanted to listen to weren't on when I was in the car.
I picked up a cheap and tiny MP3 player on eBay .... 128MB for $23 including shipping. Downloaded IPODDER and then started subscribing to feeds. Rather then use headphones while driving I connect the MP3 player to a cassette adapter ad listen through the car stereo.
I was mostly looking for Science stuff ... The best I've found so far: Slacker Astronomy. It's a hoot! Even if you don't have an MP3 player download a few episodes and give a listen.

Chertoff has got to go!
Have you heard this idiot on the radio or seen him on TV!!!! This New York Daily News editorial seems to sum it all up. There was also this NPR interview where he appears completely clueless!!!
I think the only person more clueless is his boss who said that no one foresaw that this could happen in New Orleans. I'm not that bright of a guy but I know .... Maybe that was because dateline NBC did a story about it about three weeks ago. Then that was also that 2001 Scientific America Article. Not to mention the simulated hurricane PAM (more) FEMA did a few years back. (That would be the same FEMA that works for Chertoff.)
I suppose Mr. Bush or his staff has been to busy keeping us safe to have seen or read any of these things.

SBC to keep AT&T name
Looks like my prediction that SBC would keep the AT&T name is coming true.
Forbes: SBC mulling switch to AT&T name as it seeks national profile
Now will they also keep the coveted "T" stock symbol ????
