Before you throw that out ....

Typical HAM thinking .... you see a tall building ... or have a friend that lives on a mountain and you start thinking ... repeater!!! Well it appears that a couple of spacesuits on ISS have been declared "surplus" so they're looking to toss them ... literally! More

Shocked and appalled ....

Got my hands on a Kerry-Edwards lawn sign ..... put it on my front lawn .... it didn't last 24 hours before someone swiped it. Yet during the summer I put everything that didn't sell at the yard sale at the top of the driveway with a sign that said "Free Stuff" ... nobody took it ..... Go figure.

Yet another typical anti-democratic vote suppression trick... they're so afraid of elections and that people might actually think for themselves.

Our follup up plan is to swipe a Bush sign and spray paint a big circle with a slash through it and see if that works any better. Maybe the stupid people won't be able to "get it"

Republicans fail to prevent abortions .....

The Republican party, while on the side of "Right to Life" seems to be failing miserably at it's quest. According to a NY Times Op-ED by Mark W. Roche dean of the College of Arts and Letters at the University of Notre Dame the number of abortions actually increase during republican administrations and decrease during democratic administrations. During the Reagan years the percentage of abortions rose 5% while during the Clinton years it dropped by 36%.

The reason could be that Republicans believe they can protect life by criminalizing procedures while the Democrats by advocating a strong social safety net remove the "need" for abortions.

I just don't get it???

From the second presidential debate, President Bush said:

"Embryonic stem-cell research requires the destruction of life to create a stem cell."

Yet he has had no problem killing thousands of Iraqis and sacrificed over 1000 American soldiers in a war that so far has no real good purpose.

And lets not forget his stand on capital punishment and his track record as Governor of Texas.

What is the formula he's using to make these decisions??? I took 400 level math courses in college and I can't figure this out.

Catholic Church in the stew again ... sigh

A Catholic Bishop in charge of an Austrian Seminary was forced to resign when photographs of student priests and their teachers fondling each other surfaced.

More from the BBC...

I've sometimes thought about starting a blog just about the stupid decisions, bad policies, and outrageous behavior the Church keeps getting itself into, but it would sound like I was kicking someone while they were down. There's probably already somebody out there keeping track of all the ludicrous stories already.

Isn't it Ironic ......

The federal government is having a tizzy with folks going to Canada to save a few bucks on prescriptions .... yet half of the anticipated stock of Flu vaccine is unavailable because an American company, manufacturing vaccine in the UK was shut down by UK authorities because of "contamination" issues. So where is that quality control the FDA has been saying they provide where other countries don't??

Put the Iraqis to work!!!

Why is Halliburton importing workers from the US to drive trucks and serve food for $100K/yr Salary when they could be hiring local Iraqis that need jobs?? This would boost the Iraqi economy and give them a sense of ownership rather than being an occupied nation.

This goes beyond simple jobs, Iraq has many engineers and technical people that could contribute to rebuilding their country. Wht aren't Iraqis building bridges or getting the power plants back on line???

The Crusade Against Evolution

This months wired magazine is featuring a story about a competing theory to Darwin called "intelligent design". The theory basically says that living things are just way to complex to be some random accident as Darwin suggests. Something else must have "designed" us. The theory stops short of using the "G-word"

Some right leaning religious groups are using this to say it casts "reasonable doubt" on Darwin's theory so that both intelligent design (a.k.a creationism) and Darwin should be taught in schools.

My first POST!!!

Welcome to my new BLOG!!

There is no mystique about blogs, it's just a place for people to post messages for others to read.

There are MANY times I hear something on the radio, read a story in a magazine or think of something that I would like to tell everyone but don’t want to BLAST EMAIL to the world. I get enough junk mail myself!!

This is a tool that I can use to keep track of my thoughts and share them with you. If you're curious feel free to read, if not that's fine too.

I don’t know how this is going to work out, I need to see if I’m going to be disciplined to post frequently enough to keep it interesting. We'll see.

Just bookmark this page and check back when you feel like it.

Ciao for now.
